Updated 11.9.23
V3.1
At the start of the game:
- Each Player shuffles a deck of exactly 12 cards.
- Players draw 3 cards from their deck into their hand.
- Players roll D20s to determine who goes first.
Player Turn - Initial Draw: Draw 1 card from your deck to your hand.
- At the start of your turn, if there are no cards left to draw, the game is over. The game is not over when you draw your last card, only when you have no cards left to draw at this step at the start of your turn.
Player Turn - After your initial draw you can:
- Play Flash cards.
+ You and your opponent may play Flash cards at any point during your turn.
+ Any number of Flash cards can be played by either player.
- Place 1 warrior face up onto the battlefield. See "Battlefield Rules".
- Pick any warriors for battle. See "Battle Rules".
- Once all battles have been fought and both players are satisfied with the Flash cards played, the turn is over.
Battle Rules:
- During your turn, you may attack any warrior as long as it is facing up.
- The player that is attacking chooses a warrior to attack with and chooses a warrior to target for attack.
- Players roll D20s to determine the outcome.
- The numbers printed on the Warrior cards indicate how many rolls players get.
- The battle’s outcome is determined by the warrior that gets the highest roll.
- If your highest roll is the same as your opponent, roll once again to break the tie. Keep rolling until one player rolls higher.
- You may attack the same warrior if it manages to flip face up again this turn.
- If the attacking Warrior survives the battle, you may choose to attack with it again.
- The Warrior that loses the battle is flipped face-down.
- During any moment of a battle, either player may play Flash cards.
Battlefield Rules:
- Warriors placed on the battlefield can be used in battle immediately.
- Players take turns placing cards on the battlefield. The battlefield is a grid where cards can be placed. The first Warrior placed on the battlefield is placed in the center. When other Warrior cards are placed, they must touch another warrior. A Warrior is touching when placed next to the corners or edges of another card. Players must place their cards touching any face-up opponent Warrior. If no warriors are face-up, then place the warrior so it is touching a face-down warrior. Warrior cards cannot be placed on top of each other.
Card type - Warriors: Warriors cards have 8 numbers printed around their artwork. They also have an ability printed below the artwork. The number in the upper right hand corner next to their name is just the card number, it has no effect on gameplay. You may place a Warrior from your hand on to the battlefield once during your turn.
Card type - Flash Cards: Can be played after the initial draw of each turn. When played, place on the battlefield for other players to read. Read the card out loud. As soon as the card is on the battlefield, it's ability is activated. Once it's resolved, discard the flash card.
Game Over: Once a player tries to draw at the start of their turn, but can’t, it’s game over. The player with the most cards facing up, wins.
- If you have the same number of face up warriors as your opponents when the game is over, go into SUDDEN DEATH: Each player picks one face-up warrior. Place the rest of the cards on the battlefield into discard piles. Roll to decide who places second. The player that lost the roll places their card in the middle face down. Players place their cards face down. The winner of the roll must decide on placement without knowing their opponent’s card. Once both cards are placed, flip them up and battle them in the direction they are touching. During SUDDEN DEATH, Flash cards and Warrior abilities are disabled and cannot be played.
Constructing a deck: Players pick 12 unique cards. Players must have at least one warrior but may pick any amount of Warriors and Flash Cards.
How to draft with two players: Each player opens a booster pack and initially takes two cards. Then each player passes the rest of the pack to the other player. Then players take one card between each pass. Once each player has selected 12 cards, players shuffle their deck and draw 3 into their hand.
Time-out Rules:
- During time-out, no cards may be played and the battlefield can be manipulated.
- If you need to be reminded of any face-down cards, ask for a time-out and flip any cards you need to see.
- If you run out of room and need to move the battlefield, ask for a time-out and carefully shift the cards.
OOPS Rules:
- Players may opt to play with "OOPS" dice. Players decide the number OOPS allowed. A D4 or D6 is recommended to track number of OOPS they have left.
- Whenever a player mistakenly plays a card they didn't fully read or place a warrior somewhere that doesn't make sense, they can use one of their OOPS.
- When a player uses an OOPS, they may undo their last action. They may do this before their opponent has taken any action.
